Selfish Pride Is Harmful

"Too much pride will destroy you" Proverbs 16:18

Since the beginning of time people have always tried to lift themselves up to strive to be the best and strongest and even to be gods themselves.

In Genesis 11 we read about the Tower of Babel where people sought to reach heaven and show how strong they were and God quickly reminded them of their humanity!

Today everyone is trying to have the most stuff, the most money, the biggest house, and we want to show it to everyone on social media. In our pride we can be selfish and unkind and refuse to show any weakness.

If we are selfish we will never be able to help others, and if we're prideful we'll never be able to receive help. All of that is harmful.

So to prevent that and to glorify God we have to be honest about weakness and ask him for his help to help us to love others and be so confident in his strength that we don't have to pretend to be bulletproof or better than others because our faith is in Jesus, not ourselves.
